Oil wrestling is a national sport of Turkey, and wrestlers are widely revered. Competitors are covered with either vegetable or olive oil and then grapple with each other.


The aim is to for a wrestler to get a grasp of their opponent and flip them onto their back. 


Wrestlers train for years to compete in the Kırkpınar national final of the sport, held near Edirne in July or August each year. 


This reportage follows wrestlers competing and training in and around Istanbul, and at the annual final in Kırkpınar, Turkey.
